The fruit for our Reserve Shiraz Viognier is grown at Angullong vineyard in Orange NSW, at 660m altitude. This vintage shows concentrated Shiraz character as a result of mild growing conditions throughout the 2017 growing season.
This wine is a blend of 95% Shiraz with 5% Viognier.
Viognier is included to provide enhance aromatic complexity, and to contribute texture to the palate.
The perfumed nose shows ripe, dark fruit flavours (blackberry, black plum), ripe spices, with very subtle coffee oak..
The full-bodied palate has beautifully ripe and elegant flavours with a lovely lacing of ripe, silky tannin. This vintage shows excellent mid-palate weight and flesh. Perfect with red meat. For best enjoyment, remove cork and let breathe for an hour before serving.
This wine will age very well over the next few years. A harmless deposit could form due to minimal filtration.
Drink now to 2024.

4% viognier, 8% shiraz as whole bunches, crushed/destemmed shiraz on top, 4 weeks on skins, to French oak (23% new), 6 months rack and return, after 12 months selected barrels blended and bottled. A very fragrant and complex bouquet, then a juicy, supple medium-bodied palate follows logically on. Lovely wine.
